Overall Objective

The overall objective of the project is to increase accessibility to high quality health care services through modern, minimally invasive surgery and to increase public awareness about the impact of diet on human health.

Joint initiative of the Mazovian Specialist Hospital in Ostrołęka and Lviv Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital “OHMATDYT” is financed from the budget of the Sejmik (the Regional Council) of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship and Józef Psarski Mazowieckie Specialist Hospital in Ostrołęka. In-kind contribution of Lviv Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital “OHMATDYT” is covered by Lviv Regional Council.

The project is implemented as part of thematic objective “SECURITY”.

Key activities

Key project activities at Lviv Regional Children's Clinical Hospital “OHMATDYT” include the refurbishment of the operating room and the purchase of equipment for minimally invasive surgery: a complete set of laparoscopic equipment, a power tool for ENT, a microscope for ear surgeries, cytourethroscopes and telescopes for procedures on children.

Hospital’s assembly hall will be reconstructed to create a well-equipped telemedicine centre with capacities to remotely consult patients and teach students. Procedures conducted in the new operating room will be broadcast in the assembly hall for teaching purposes and to examine complicated cases. Main aim of the Telemedicine Component of the project is to improve the health of the residents by ensuring equal access to good quality health services. Apart from that, it will greatly simplify and accelerate the communication and cooperation between both partners. In addition to the remote exchange of information and knowledge, joint practical training of doctors from both hospitals is foreseen by the project – they will be able to learn about each other’s best practices and provide new surgical services that were not available to patients before.

Results

Project results will be presented at the final conference in Lviv.

A catalogue of best practices will be developed and published within the project as well as presented at the final conference. This catalogue will showcase project results across the implementation area of Cross-border Cooperation (CBC) Programme Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2014-2020. Polish partners will present a prevention program to reduce the number of cases requiring surgical interventions, which will come to fruition thanks to project implementation.

Cooperation of health care professionals from both hospitals will continue because the telemedicine system installed at Lviv hospital will allow the doctors to hold joint consultations and participate in conferences remotely, on both sides of the border.

The main goal of the Program is to support cross-border development processes in the border regions of Poland, Belarus and Ukraine according to the objectives of the European Neighbourhood Instrument as defined in its Regulation. As was the case during previous programming periods, the Program is focused on Polish, Ukrainian and Belarusian border regions and non-profit organizations operating in these regions.
